考研英语每日一练

　　考研英语每日词汇，考研英语词汇的的学习是一个积累和深入的过程，首先要理解单词熟悉用法，然后通过大量的阅读巩固，还要定期复习。可是很多同学都将词汇的学习简单地看作背单词，背中文释义。这样简单机械地拿着单词表去背通常是事倍功半。
　　1、 passive/psv/
　　passive是个常见的形容词，意为“被动的，消极的，顺从的”，the paaive就是“被动语态”。
　　Men have always played an active part in leading worship while women have been confined to more passive roles. 男性在宗教崇拜方面一直起着主导作用，而女性则一直被局限于较被动的角色。
　　His passive attitude made things easier for me. 他顺从的态度让我做起事来要轻松些。
　　2、 paste/pest/
　　paste作动词意为“用糨糊粘贴”，也可指电脑中常用的“粘贴”，paste作名词，指“糨糊”“面团”或者“（肉、蔬菜或水果做成的）酱”。
　　He pasted the pictures into his scrapbook.他把画片贴到他的剪贴本里。
　　Data can be pasted into word processing documents.数据可以粘贴到文字处理文件上。
　　She mixed the flour and water to a smooth paste.她把面和水和成细润的面团。
　　wallpaper paste贴壁纸的糨糊
　　tomato / curry paste 番茄 / 咖喱酱
　　3、pastime/pɑstam/
　　pastime是名词，意为“消遣，娱乐”。要注意这个词的拼写形式
　　His favourite pastimes were shooting and golf. 他喜欢的娱乐项目是射击和打高尔夫球。
　　4、pasture/pɑst/
　　pasture是名词，意为“牧场，牧草地”。
　　The cows are out now, grazing in the pasture. 牛现在已经放出去了，正在牧场上吃草。
　　Some fields are planted with crops for several years, and then returned to pasture for the cattle. 有些田地种了几年作物后又退耕还牧用来养牛了。
　　5、pat/pt/
　　pat意为“轻拍”，作名词和动词都可以，短语a pat on the back或者pat sb on the back意为“赞扬，表扬”。
　　He patted me on the head affectionately. 他慈爱地拍了拍我的头。
　　Mrs Dodd gave the child a pat on the head.多德夫人轻轻拍了拍那个孩子的头。
　　If you do something well, give yourself a pat on the back. 事情做得漂亮时，给自己一点表扬。
　　You can pat yourselves on the back for a job well done.你们可以因为工作干得出色而赞扬一下自己。
　　6、patch/pt/
　　patch作名词，指与周围部分不同的“斑，小块”，引申为“补丁”，还可指“一小块土地”。
　　There was a small patch of blue in the grey clouds. 灰色的云团中透出一小片蓝天。
　　Belinda watched a patch of sunlight move slowly across the wall. 贝琳达看着一小片阳光从墙的一边缓缓移到另一边。
　　I sewed patches on the knees of my jeans.我在我的牛仔裤膝部打了个补丁。
　　They spent Sundays digging their vegetable patch. 他们利用星期天来翻小片菜地。
　　7、patent/petnt/
　　patent作名词意为“专利权”，作动词用patent sth，意为“某物得到专利权”。
　　He applied for a patent for a new method of removing paint.他申请了一项除漆新方法的专利。
　　The invention has been patented by the university. 那项发明已被那所大学申请了专利。
　　patent还可作形容词，意为“明显的，显而易见的”。
　　she was smiling with patent insincerity. 她的微笑带有明显的伪善。
　　Their scorn was patent to everyone. 他们的轻蔑态度是大家有目共睹的。

　　8、path/pɑθ/
　　path是常用名词，基本意为“小径，小道”，也可指“道路，通道”，引申为“路线，途径”，path的意思在例句中很好理解。
　　He went up the garden path to knock on the door. 他穿过花园小径去敲门。
　　They followed the path until they came to a gate. 他们沿着这条路走到了一个大门口。
　　A fierce fire is still raging through the forest, burning everything in its path. 烈火仍在森林中肆虐，将沿途的一切都化为灰烬。
　　The Church of England put a serious obstacle in the path of women who want to become priests. 英国国教在妇女成为牧师的道路上设置了重大障碍。
　　9、pathetic/pθetk/
　　pathetic是形容词，意为“悲惨的，令人怜悯的”。
　　she looked so pathetic that I bent down to comfort her. 她看上去那么可怜，于是我弯下身去安慰她。
　　The starving children were a pathetic sight.饥饿的儿童看起来是一幅凄惨的景象。
　　10、patriotic/ptritk/
　　patriotic是形容词，意为“爱国的”，名词形式patriot /ptrit/指“爱国者”，patriotism /ptritzm/指“爱国，爱国精神”。
　　He felt a surge of patriotic emotion. 他感到一阵爱国情感的涌动。
　　They were staunch British patriots and had portraits of the Queen in their flat. 他们是英国坚定的爱国者，并在公寓里挂着女王的肖像。
　　He was a country boy who had joined the army out of a sense of patriotism and adventure. 他是个乡下小伙儿，参军是出于爱国之心和冒险精神。
