　　1 be derelict['derlkt]被遗弃的，无主的
　　e.g. Not long ago, this part of the city was pretty derelict, and lot of it was just wasteland, so hardly anyone used to live there. But now you can see high-rise blocks up all over the place, especially along the riverfront.不久前这块地都是被遗弃的，很多都是荒地，所以几乎没人住那。但现在就有很多高楼，尤其是河边地带。
　　2 open up restaurants and shops开餐厅和商店
　　e.g. Plenty of restaurants and shops have been opened up there, where people can enjoy a whole day. 很多的餐厅和商店都开在那里。人们可以在那里度过美好的一天。
　　3 up-and-coming city 很有前途的城市 (甚至可以修饰market，company，girl等)
　　e.g. An increasing number of flats have been put up, so I do reckon that it's an up-and-coming city. 这个城市很有前途，毕竟越来越来的高楼拔地而起。
　　4 be hard-pressed to find any drawbacks 很难找到任何缺点

　　e.g. I‘m quite hard-pressed to find any drawbacks, but I guess one thing that's not so great is the traffic congestion. You know there are loads of cars on the road and it takes absolutely ages to get anywhere. 好难找到我家乡的缺点呀，但是我赶脚不是不足应该是交通拥堵。路上车子太多了，到一个地方去得花费很长时间呢。
　　5 sprawling city不断扩张的城市
　　e.g. I'm quite partial to the sprawling city really. 讲真我很喜欢这个不断扩张的城市。
