  What is the professor’s attitude toward X?
  What is the professor’s opinion of X?
  What can be inferred about the student?
  What can be inferred about the student when she says this?
  What does the woman mean when she says this?
  态度题,顾名思义,是需要同学们理解说话者的感受,是支持还是反对,是积极的还是消极的,传达的情感是乐观的还是悲观的。说话者可能通过语气,改变语调或使用一些形容词来直接表达自己的态度,也可能通过引导或转折的方式间接表达自己的态度。既然表达态度有直接和间接两种方式,那我们只要了解这两种方式对应的相关信号词,则能轻松搞定题目。

  直接态度
  说话人的语气语调:
  在听力中,表示说话人态度的直观的提示就是说话人的语气和语调变化。语调要记得用升调。
  常见的语气信号词如下
  疑问,惊讶
  Really/I couldn’t believe…/ Jesus Christ!/ Wow!/ Oh, my God! / Gosh!/ What!
  重读,放慢语速,停顿,怀疑,犹豫
  Um...可惜
  what a shame/ that’s too bad./ I’m sorry to hear that等。
  形容词等评价性内容:
  在听力中,不是所有的形容词都要记下来。同学们需要记录的是有感论坛彩的形容词。
  常见的形容词如下
  积极正面:
  glad, best, favorable, approval, interesting, enthusiastic, supportive, great, magnificent, glamorous, excellent, fantastic, outstanding, terrific, awesome, amazing, charming...
  消极负面:
  disapproval, dissatisfied, boring, suspicious, critical, bad, skeptical, questionable...
  中立客观:
  neutral, unprejudiced, impartial, unbiased...
  例题解析
  What is Matthew's opinion about observing Mr. Grabell's third-grade class?
  (TPO1-C4)
  A. It will help him become a more effective teacher
  B. It could help improve his study habits
  C. It has improved his public-speaking skills
  D. It may be the most difficult assignment he has had
  听力原文:
  Student: I’m so glad that classroom observations are a requirement for the education program. I mean it’s like the best thing ever to prepare you to be a good teacher.
  题目分析:
  学生对这次旁听非常满意,原文中用了(“so glad”、“the best thing”)非常直观地表达出了作者的肯定态度,因此答案选A,(a more effective teacher)是原文(prepare to be a good teacher)的同义替换。
  B选项,study habit未提及。
  C选项,public-speaking skill是课上的一个内容,不是态度。
  D选项,most difficult assignment未提及。
  间接态度
  一语双关:
  在托福听力中,说话人有时不直接表达实际意思,需要同学们结合上下文语境去理解。
  委婉表达:
  有的时候,说话人会通过委婉表达的方式阐明自己的意见,比如教授提问学生时,学生的回答并不完全正确,此时教授就会通过引导的方式,委婉的表达学生回答错误这个信息。常见信号词如下
  Sounds great...but/ Sounds like fun...but/ I’d like to...but/ I should have, but.../ I wish I could... but/ I’d love to...but...
  转折处:
  不论是对话还是讲座中,转折处都是非常重要的考点位置。而转折处后面通常带有说话人实际想表达的意图和态度。
  常见的转折词如下
  but, however, whereas, nevertheless, while, in fact, actually, although, though...
  例题解析
  What does the professor mean when she says this:
  A. She is impressed by how much the student knows about redirecting.
  B. She thinks it is time to move on to the next part of this lectures.
  C. The student`s answer is not an example of a displacement activity.
  D. The student should suggest a different animal behavior to discuss next.
  听力原文:
  Professor: So what do you think another example of another displacement activity might be?
  Student: How about an animal that, uh, instead of fighting its enemy or running away, it attacks a plant or a bush?
  Professor: That’s a really good suggestion, Carl, but that’s called redirecting.
  题目分析:
  教授让举例子,学生说了一个例子,教授先说“good suggestion”,然后用了转折词“but”表明了自己的态度,学生说的答案有误,对应着C选项。
  A选项,虽然说了good suggestion,但后面有转折,所以impressed不对。
  B选项,redirecting只是教授对学生的回答,并非要讲另一个部分了。
  D选项,没有要求学生重新举例。
