　　A successful leader or politician can be labelled by a number of excellent merits or capabilities. However, whether effective communication technique is superior to others is under my deep doubt. From my perspective, though the strong communication technique can help a leader or politician stand out during a public speech, I still believe there are two other more indispensable capacities. For one thing, the ability of making right and objective decisions is more essential than any other merit or virtue. To be specific, it is those political leaders and entrepreneurs’ responsibility to discern opportunities and make instantaneous and correct decisions as well as avoid various underlying threats or failures. A noticeable example happening during the Great Depression in the States can be quoted to prove what I believe. The famous and renowned American president,

　　Franklin De Roosevelt, was entangled in a huge crisis engendered by economic stagnation and the constantly increasing unemployment rate as well as the imminent eruption of social disorders. To drive the country back to its original prosperous trajectory, he made a bold decision to launch New Deal, which would compromise the profits of many consortiums. However, not only did his insistence in funding the construction of infrastructure facilities help resolve the emergent employment issue of those basic labor force but also it prompted the improvement of common citizens’ purchase power to revitalize the country’s economy. Apparently, the feat and success of President Roosevelt can prove how crucial the ability of making right decisions, especially when some crisis happen, is for politicians or leaders. For another thing, the ability of accepting suggestions and even criticism is roughly as important as the ability of making right decisions. As is known to all, nobody is perfect and the chance of downplaying some potential crisis is always existential. In this situation, owning the trait or capability of being humble to accept others’ suggestions becomes obtrusively significant. Another historical example was about the decision of attacking Pearl Harbor. At nearly the end of Second World War, the leader of Japan made a huge mistake by ordering its air force to clandestinely bomb Pearl Harbor to drag America into the war. Ultimately, Japan was soon revenged by the dropping of two atomic bombs and had to declare its surrender. Supposing that if the leader of Japan could adopt the advice from his underlings and didn’t launch the attack, the whole picture would possibly be rewritten. Apparently, it was the Japanese politicians’ obstinacy to reject others’ advice that led to its failure. In a word, from historic lessons, it is easy to draw the conclusion that the ability of making a quick and right decisions and the capacity of accepting others’ opinions are more important than others, including strong communication techniques.
