　　人口问题：
　　1 人口过多，导致自然资源的过度消耗；
　　2 造成严重的环境污染；
　　3 产生过多的垃圾，无法处理；
　　这些问题不完全是人口导致的：
　　1 目前不少全世界所有地方都人口过多，但这些问题几乎所有地方都存在；
　　2 很大程度上，是由于人类自身管理不善，没有预见可能导致的问题；
　　3 很多问题，也是由于人类的贪婪导致的，不顾环境问题去发展经济；

　　In recent decades, we have experienced unprecedented improvement of living standards, which can be shown by the increase of lifespan, decrease of infant death rate, etc. However, it doesn’t mean we live in a wonderland with no problems. On the contrary, we have to face many new challenges and risks, which many attribute to population explosion. But, I disagree.
　　Admittedly, the rapid growth of population, especially in less developed areas, has triggered off a series of problems. To feed the growing population, people have to claim more land from nature to develop agriculture. At the same time, farmers’s over use of fertilizers and pesticides, which are supposed to boost yields, also has negative impact on environment. Moreover, a growing population certainly will consume more energy and request more industrial commodities. The expansion of industry production causes serious pollution globally.

　　However, with close examination of population growth rates of different countries, we will find at present, over population is indeed one of the causes of many problems, especially environment deterioration, but it is by no means the fundamental one. Globally, the gap between the poor and the rich is widening quickly, though many governments have made great efforts. In rich nations with low population growth rate, people consume or even waste most resources. By moving polluting factories to poor countries and importing food overseas, they lead a wealthy life and shift the environmental burden to others. It is these irresponsible and unsustainable lifestyle that should be blamed for most problems. In poverty stricken areas, though there is high population growth rate and people there are doing something unfriendly to environment, they are doing so for their survival and contribute to wealthy life of others.
　　To sum up, it is true that population explosion has led to many problems, but the fundamental cause of those problems should be unbalanced regional development and rich nations’ unhealthy lifestyle.
