  題目:
Employers should give their staffs at least four weeks of holidays a year to make employees do better at their jobs. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
  例文:
In the free job market, an assumption is so prevalent that many employees even do bother to question its justification, which presumes that the length of holidays is a parameter that determines employees’ working efficiency and satisfaction. The longer leave employees take, the better they would be at their work after returning. But my doubts about this assumption urge me to question its justification. / Skeptical about this statement, I, therefore, intend to appraise its truthfulness.
It is generally acknowledged that people are able to restore their energy after enjoying some recreational activities during holidays. Working consecutively with high tensions may put employees under great strain. They do not even have time for their own private life or family members, which are generally regarded as equivalently important as work itself when they are asked to work excessive overtime. Hence, being allowed to have four weeks or longer holidays is a blessing for many of the employees. Reliving from the heavy workload, they might fully unbend themselves and spend more time keeping their family company, which, in turn, would facilitate to keep them more concentrated on work, free from being bothered by daily trifles.
However, this does not necessarily justify/vindicate that employees will be better or more efficient at their jobs after returning from a long vacation. And my skepticism about this statement is grounded in two principal reasons. First, not every employee is working under full steam. The working hours vary widely between countries. In many developed regions, average employees work less than 38 hours a week, while a massive number of citizens have to gear up to work more than 60 hours weekly, for example, in East Asia, where the death from overwork is scandalously high. A four-week holiday for the latter is definitely necessary. On the contrary, it does not make any sense for those who have much fewer weekly working hours.

Additionally, whether being able to do better at jobs, in my opinion, does not exclusively depend on how long the holiday employees take. There are many other factors attributing to an employee’s working efficiency and satisfaction, including their marital status, income expectations, self-efficiency, and et cetera. If she earns very low salaries and barely makes ends meet, she, with the likelihood, could not be better at her job no matter how long holiday she is allowed to take, because she is constantly distracted by her poor living conditions, hardly sparing time for improving her working skills.
In conclusion, what is admitted is that having a four-week or longer holiday is beneficial for some certain groups, but it is not convincible to claim that employees will be better at their jobs after taking long holidays. Regarding many elements that determine work efficiency and satisfaction, the long holiday is not the decisive one. By no means, one can say employees would turn out to be better at their jobs should they are given a four-week holiday annually.
